Welcome to the Honkaiverse
The overarching structure of the Honkai series explained.
Overarching Structure
The main series of Hoyoverse stretches along a confirmed 6 connected games that exist in a singular connected universe which follows tweaked versions of the Many Worlds Interpretation and the Bubble Universes Interpretation of the multiverse.
The Universe
The worlds that make up this universe have potential sizes of infinity large or small and vary in size from world to world. The main structure of the universe is comprised of 2 larger higher structures, the Sea of Quanta and the Imaginary Tree. These 2 structures exist in a duality, they are opposites but can’t exist without each other.
Sea of Quanta
The Sea of Quanta is chaotic, nothing is stable within it and it is hostile to everything. Worlds within the Sea of Quanta are usually a smaller scale due to the nature of it, these worlds are known as Bubble Worlds. Bubble Worlds are surrounded by the Sea of Quanta, which leaves a projection of what would be in their place inside the world itself, making the world look larger than it actually is when inside of it. All the Bubble Worlds will be eventually consumed by the Sea of Quanta and recycled into more Bubble Worlds.
Imaginary Tree
The Imaginary Tree represents order, stability exists everywhere and the worlds are anchored to the imaginary. Worlds on the Imaginary Tree are surrounded by Imaginary Space which makes up the Imaginary Barriers which prevent navigation and travel between different Worlds without use of special equipment or powers. The Imaginary Barriers provide a projection on what would exist beyond that point in the world, leading to the illusion of it being larger than it is in reality.
Worlds
A world is a multidimensional spacetime pocket that varies in size from infinitely small to infinitely large. Worlds can exist either in the Sea of Quanta or the Imaginary Tree. Worlds in the Sea of Quanta are usually on a smaller scale due to the nature of the Sea of Quanta, and so are called Bubble Worlds. From what has been shown, every world has a centre of civilisation.
Soul World
The Soul World is a higher dimensional plane that stores the souls of every living being. A being’s soul is projected onto them to grant them their consciousness and memories. Once a soul loses connection to a host it will begin to fade from existence, however if the soul is anchored to something like a new body before it fully fades, it can be preserved to stop the fading. Once a soul fades it can never be recovered and is gone forever.
Character Versions
Every different being in the Universe are created based on an amalgamation of different aspects. This results in different people appearing with similar faces and/or traits as other characters. Characters like Bronya Rand, Bronya Zaychik, and Silver Wolf are an example of characters that are different versions. Both Bronya Rand and Silver Wolf share visual aspects of Bronya Zaychik, while Bronya Rand shares parts of her story and connections to other characters, and Silver Wolf shares parts of her personality as cosmic connections.
The Multiverse
Beyond the Universe exists more Universes with their own structures, so far only 1 other Universe is known of, the native Universe of the Honkai.
Honkai Origins
The Honkai originates from its own Universe where it assimilated everything. Upon finding out about other Universes the Honkai started pushing Honkai Energy in the direction of the other Universe to create a link between the two and bring them together. Eventually a stable channel was created where energy would be converted into Honkai Energy upon being sent through from either side, which beings like Herrschers could then utilise. As the channel is not sealed tight Honkai Energy gradually leaked out into the Imaginary and Quantum, leading to an integration of Honkai Energy into Imaginary Energy and Quantum Energy, and a constant presence across all worlds in the Universe.
Honkai
Honkai exists everywhere in the Universe in some form, but doesn’t always manifest in the same ways, or even at all. Honkai represents the collapse of structure and is a cause of destruction in many worlds.
Honkai Beasts
When Honkai Energy corrupts existing entities, they will become monstrous. They will lose their minds and obtain strength and in some cases powers granted by the Honkai. These monsters are often used to attack and destroy civilisation. Honkai beasts can also be formed by a large amount of Honkai energy converging and joining together to form a new entity.
Finality
Finality is a higher dimensional force that is the ultimate and origin of all Herrscher Authorities. Finality holds absolute control over Honkai energy so those holding it have the potential to do absolutely anything. Herrscher Authorities gain their powers by drawing from a respective part of Finality which branches out to grant more powers.
Herrschers
Herrschers are a weapon of the Honkai directly below Finality. They are beings mutated by Honkai energy to be able to tap into a Herrscher Authority, usually through an accompanying Herrscher core which holds their Herrscher Authority. Herrschers are usually under the control of a higher power controlling the Honkai, which grants them control over Honkai Beasts, but they are able to separate themselves from the control of these higher powers, but at the cost of the things granted by those higher powers.
Paths
When a being linked with the Imaginary strides a concept far enough, that concept is imprinted in the Imaginary as a path. These paths are embodiments of the concept and forever tied to it. While they can never be erased, as concepts have overlap they can be absorbed and replaced.
Aeons
The beings who first stride the path to create it become higher dimensional embodiments of the path that reside in the imaginary. As Aeons are embodiments of their paths can’t stray from their path or they will cease to exist. If an Aeon dies the path is unaffected, but if a path is absorbed and replaced the Aeon will also be.
Pathstriders
When someone strides close enough to a path they can tap into the power of the path from the imaginary, these beings are known as Pathstriders. Pathstriders do not require direct power from the Aeon or to be seen by it to stride the path, just to follow the path close enough to connect to it.
Emanators
Beings recognised and granted power directly by Aeons are known as Emanators. Since the power is granted from the Aeon and not the path the being can stray from the path, however if the Aeon doesn’t feel the being is worthy of the power, the power will be revoked and they will lose their Emanators status and all perks that came along with it.
Hmmmmm. I feel like its too summarized for the explanation, but its Great. 👍👌
